This Indian Peacock Softshell turtle (Nilssonia hurum ) is listed as #Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. It faces threats due to illegal wildlife trade, hunting and habitat degradation. During events like the Assam Floods, it falls prey to opportunistic hunting when washed ashore, outside its habitat due to currents. This individual was confiscated from villagers by the Assam Forest Department and rescued by our IFAW-WTI team from the North Bank of Brahmaputra. After examination by veterinarians and recording its morphometry, the turtle was released Back To The Wild. Thanks to the support of HCL Foundation that we can extend our wildlife rescue to service this area. We keep wildlife, Forever Wild
