Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) invites applications from postgraduate degree holders in the field of, Sociology/Social Anthropology/Social work/Natural Resources Management/ with 1-3 years’ experience, to work in the Terai Tiger Project in WTI.

Who we’re looking for

As a sociologist under the Terai Tiger Project, you will be posted in the Dudhwa-Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Landscape, and be responsible for day-to-day implementation of the assigned activities of the project, reporting, data management and analysis as well as in project development.

Qualifications and skills

  • Post-graduate degree in disciplines such as Sociology/Social Anthropology/Social work/Natural Resources Management, with minimum 1-3 years’ experience in conducting field work with indigenous/local communities.
  • Knowledge of social science research techniques including structured and unstructured surveys.
  • Skills in working closely with local community stakeholders, specifically in capacity development and sensitisation of stakeholders, and organising village meetings and workshops.
  • Skills in grant management, technical reporting and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to multi-task and ability to create and work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.

 

Broad responsibilities include

 

  1. Implement all project related activities assigned, as per the Project Implementation Plan of project.
  2. Organize village meetings and workshops during and after human-wildlife conflict incidents.
  3. Conduct training workshops for select community volunteers to undertake big cat monitoring, patrolling, dissemination o information, etc..
  4. Collect detailed data where required in villages reporting human-wildlife conflicts.
  5. Liaise with relevant government line departments, donors/potential donors and other agencies as required.
  6. Report periodically about work progress, through compiled monthly reports, and communicate to concerned line manager.
  7. Responsible for generating all field reports, photographic documentation, submission of data sheets etc., as per the requirements of the Reporting Manager.
  8. Provide content for website and participate in dissemination and outreach.
