WHALE SHARK DAY PAINTING COMPETITION

Eligibility: This competition is only for school students (Indian nationals).

General instructions

  1. Theme of the painting competition is “our whale sharks”
  2. There will be two categories.
    1. Junior 4th to 7th grade
    2. Senior 8th -12th grade
  3. The submission for competition closes at 7:00 PM on 22-August-2020.
  4. Winners will be announced publicly on the International Whale Shark Day event between 10 AM to 11 AM on 28th August 2020.
  5. Colours
    1. For the painting, any medium of colour can be used (crayons, sketch, water colour, oil paint/pastels, pencil colour etc)
    2. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome.
    3. Try avoiding the use of glittering glues.
  6. Paper
    1. The paper size should be ideally: 210 x 297mm 8.3 x 11.7 inch (A4 Sheet).
    2. The drawing should be preferably on white sheet
  7. Submission
    1. The painting can be either scanned or clearly photographed
    2. The file type should be JPEG
    3. Only one painting to be submitted by one participant
    4. File name should be <First Name of the student_date of submission> For example: name of the student is Alok Mishra and date of submission is 20-08-2020, (Ex: the file name should be <ALOK_20-08-2020>)
  8. JUDGING CRITERIA:
  9. Paintings will be judged according to excellence in the following areas: colour, values, composition, treatment of subject matter (mood), creativity/originality, drawing, usage of the sheet and overall execution/presentation.
  10. SIGNATURE:

It is highly recommended, but not required, that the Artist’s signature/name be visible in the photo of the painting on the bottom left hand side.

  1. Intellectual Property
    1. Ownership and copyright of all entries will be shared by the artist and the organisers of the painting competition. By submitting an entry, the entrant grants Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and its project partners TATA Chemical limited (TCL) an irrevocable, perpetual, and royalty-free right to use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, prepare derivative works of, modify, publish and otherwise make use of the submitted entry for any purposes based on their sole discretion.
    2. These rights include, but are not limited to, the right to modify, censor, compress, edit, affix logos to, and to otherwise alter or make use of the submitted entry. Entrant agrees that WTI and TCL shall have no obligation to post, display, or otherwise make publicly available the entry, and may, in their sole discretion, remove or delete the entry from project website, social media platform, or in other published locations.
  2. Warranty & Indemnification
    1. By entering the Contest, you warrant that your entry is original, that you are the sole owner and copyright holder of your entry, and that you have not granted exclusive rights to all or part of your entry to any other person or entity. You also warrant that your entry does not violate the right of privacy of any individual; does not infringe any trademark, trade name, trade secret, intellectual property right, or other common law or statutory right; nor does it contain any material that might be deemed offensive or obscene, or that otherwise violates any criminal prohibition or the personal or proprietary rights of any person or entity. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WTI and its partners from any claims, costs and expenses that WTI may incur arising out of or in connection with your breach of the foregoing warranties.
  1. A panel of judges from conservation and art domains will choose the winner in each category. In addition to prize, all winners will be featured on WTI’s social media, and stand a chance to have one Painting featured in our future WTI’s calendars.

  1. 1st prize- Gift Voucher worth 2500/- and certificate
  2. 2nd prize- Gift Voucher worth 1500/- and certificate
  3. 3rd prize- Gift Voucher worth 1000/- and certificate
