Gujarat Forest Department (www.forests.gujarat.gov.in) forms policies for the conservation of forests and the protection of wildlife and the environment in Gujarat. The unique features of the state include the largest coastline in the country, the saline deserts of the Rann of Kutch, grasslands and wetlands. These factors have bestowed the state with a vast diversity of flora and fauna. The majestic Asiatic lion and wild ass have their last remaining populations in Gujarat. The state's faunal biodiversity consists of 14% of fish, 18 % of reptiles, 37% of avifauna and 25% of the mammal populations of the country.

CSR in India: Help us lend wildlife a helping hand

Contributing to the conservation of wildlife and wild habitats is a wonderful way to allocate your company's mandatory CSR spend.

With the passage of the Companies Act, 2013, the mandate for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been formally introduced to the dashboard of the Boards of Indian companies. Schedule VII of Section 135, Point no. (iv) of the Act covers CSR spending on ensuring environmental sustainability, ecological balance, protection of flora and fauna, animal welfare, agroforestry, conservation of natural resources and maintaining quality of soil, air and water.
